KILL EFFECT

The Oldest Band You Never Heard of

The hard-hitting, London Ontario Canada based Hard Rock/Grunge band Kill Effect was founded in 2007 and quickly made a name with their raw, unapologetic sound.

Founding member of Kill Effect, Jason Watts (Vocals/Guitar), formed the band with a vision to create music that resonated with the angst and rebellion of people from all generations, using catchy melodies and heavy, driving guitar. Drawing inspiration from the grunge and hard rock movements of the '90s and early 2000s, Kill Effect set out to craft a unique experience that would captivate audiences and convey the raw emotions of life's trials and tribulations.

After a few line up changes, Shawn Lockrey (Drums) secured his place behind the kit, becoming a staple, both on the stage and off, within the band. Shawn wears many hats in the band, from producer, to merch creator, his passion for the band has been unyielding.

The band was completed with the addition of Steve Leslie (Bass) shortly after and the trio would continue honing the K.E sound and energetic on-stage presence, with a DIY approach for the next decade.

In 2011, the band released a self titled, self produced demo album, featuring original songs "Trigger", "Devils Tongue", "Nowhere to Hide" and "One More Day", to name a few.

In 2013, they released a second self produced album, "Stand By", featuring 6 new original songs, which included "Hollywood Scene", "Calling Out", "Say It" and "Incoming", as well as "Nothing to Lose" and "Secret", plus a bonus acoustic demo of "Incoming", showcasing how the seed of a song can evolve.

Kill Effect took their music to stages all across South Western Ontario and 2017 saw the bands third release, "Grit", a title that would simultaneously describe their drive and passion of being a struggling independent band, as well as become synonymous with their infectious melodies and unforgettable performances. The album featured standout tracks like "Contagious", "Adorable (When You Scream)", and also included songs "Human Code", "Deception" and "Different Breed", that veered from the traditional sound and went in experimental directions for the band and listener. The album also saw the re-recordings of "One More Day" and "Trigger".

Over the years, Kill Effect continued to grow and refine their sound. In 2018, the band released a 2 song ep, "Bright Side of Bitter Times". It showcased their musical maturity and lyrical prowess with "Save Tomorrow" and "Delusion", which displayed a depth and introspection that resonated with a growing fan base.

Throughout the past decade plus, Kill Effect maintained a Do It Yourself approach, earning a reputation for their high-energy live performances that left audiences hungry for more. The commitment to their craft and fans was unwavering, and it showed in every show they played. As the years went by, Kill Effect continued to push their own musical boundaries, always seeking to deliver something fresh and innovative. Their music spoke to the disillusioned, the dreamers, and the defiant, offering an escape and a sense of belonging.

Though the band's journey had its share of ups and downs, including early lineup changes and personal challenges, their dedication to the music had remained steadfast.

Unfortunately, 2020 would see the end of Steve Leslies time with the band, as he decided to depart from the group.

After taking a short hiatus, Shawn and Jason were soon reinvigorated to start fresh, writing, recording and releasing 2 brand new power hits in "Together We Rise", a song showcasing the societal unrest of the current times, and "Ocean", a Pop-Rock melting pot of catchy lyrics and sing-a-long melodies.

In 2023, the duo went searching for their 3rd member, and that's when Jeremy Sieberer took the role of Bassist. Jeremy was quick to get acclamated and the band was back out on the stage for a few summer shows.

Finally in 2025, while continuing to forge a fresh, new take on the band, they would do something that had been internally debated on for a long time, which was adding a 2nd Guitarist.

Jorj Dino was added to the band and from day 1, he brought a creative, unique take that elevated the music to a whole new level. For the first time, K.E were now a 4 piece band.

Kill Effect's almost 2 decade long journey of music remains a testament to the power of raw, authentic expression with their distinct sounding songs including "Trigger," "Delusion", "Save Tomorrow", "Adorable(When You Scream)" and the latest release, "Together We Rise". Kill Effect continue to provide their edgy, raw, heavy, unique sound and energetic live performances.
